Our clinical vets do the majority of our TB testing
Dramatic payment reductions for TB testing imposed by XL Farmcare have made it difficult for many practices to continue providing TB testing services to their clients. Despite these challenges we recognise the importance of the farm's own vet conducting the TB test as it provides an excellent opportunity to see the whole herd and to discuss health issues along the way. The test also provides a convenient opportunity to carry out other veterinary work such as pregnancy diagnosis, castrations, blood sampling, de-horning and vaccine administration as required.
Many other practices now employ non-clinical "TB testers" to conduct the majority of their testing as a cost-saving exercise, with the disadvantage that many of these TB testers are not familiar with the farm nor equipped to provide additional veterinary services at the TB test.
We pride ourselves as being one of few local practices able to consistently send a familiar face to conduct your TB testing, along with being able to fulfil any clinical work that you may require at the time. We aim to complete your tests efficiently, professionally and with minimal stress to you and your cattle.
We can almost always accommodate your preferred testing dates and times, provided that we receive adequate notice. We can also provide a technician to take eartag numbers if required.
