Neil qualified from London University in 1979 and came to Nantwich in 1980 to specialise in farm animal practice. He was awarded the Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trusts inaugural John Oldacre Award in 1984, and travelled to Sweden and Finland in 1985 to study “The Effects of Enviroment and Nutrition on Dairy Cow Health and Production”. The Nuffield Scholarship and subsequent work, particularly on dry cow management led to the Fellowship of the Royal Agricultural Societies.

Neil believes in making life easier for dairy cows through provision of good diets and facilities, and that collaboration with other technical advisors is the best way forward. He provides a consultancy service, especially relating feeding and housing to health and fertility, either direct to farmers themselves or through the feed industry and also for several other veterinary practices.

He also advises on legal cases on instructions from lawyers and other interested experts. Neil has written articles and presented papers to many organisations, breeders clubs, grassland societies and veterinary conferences. He is also interested in sheep management and health, and can undertake ram testing at the practice. Neil is also a member of the British Veterinary Association, British Cattle Veterinary Association, Sheep Veterinary Society, Holstein U.K. and the British Grassland Society.
