Dermatology

Skin complaints are one of the most common problems seen at Nantwich Veterinary Hospital. Animals can present with itchiness, hair loss, recurring ear infections, abnormal skin appearance or skin lumps. Many skin conditions which look the same can have different causes.

Ingrid Segboer obtained her certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 2004. When presented with a skin case she will take an extensive skin history, and recommend the appropriate tests and/or procedures for an accurate diagnosis, and discuss a treatment plan. Not all skin conditions can be cured, and therefore long-term management may be necessary.

We offer the following tests:

  • Initial skin investigations
    • hair combing
    • hair plucks
    • skin scrapings
    • tape preparations
    • cytology
  • Bacterial and fungal cultures
  • Blood tests (biochemistry, haematology and hormonal)
  • Biopsies
  • Allergy testing
    • intradermal test
    • serology
  • Immunotherapy
