Our Staff

Our Small Animal Veterinary Team not only offer routine services such as neutering and vaccinations but also specialise in a range of fields. Our Veterinary Surgeons have Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificates or Diplomas in Small Animal Surgery, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Dermatology and Small Animal Medicine.

 

 

Rachel James - MA VetMB CertSAM DVC MRCVS

/uploads/staff/354_29_s.jpgRachel qualified from Cambridge University in 1999 and spent 3 ½ years in general practice, during which time she developed a strong interest in cardiorespiratory medicine and gained the RCVS certificate in small animal medicine.

She then joined the cardiorespiratory service at Liverpool University in 2004 as a resident in cardiorespiratory medicine.  During this time Rachel gained her certificate in Veterinary Cardiology. In October 2007 Rachel joined Nantwich Veterinary Hospital where she initiated the Cardiorespiratory referral service.  In 2008 she was awarded the Royal College of Veterinary surgeons Diploma in Veterinary Cardiology.

Rachel regularly publishes in both national and international veterinary journals and is currently involved with research projects with other cardiologists in the UK.  Rachel also lectures in cardiorespiratory medicine at both national and international conferences.

In January 2009 Rachel became a member of the management board committee for the Journal of Small Animal Practice and is currently a guest editor for a cardiology supplement for the Journal of small animal practice. Rachel is interested in all aspects of cardiorespiratory medicine with her specialist interests including heart failure and collapse in dogs.

Outside work Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and walking with her dogs; Twiggy her Border terrier and Molly her yellow Labrador.
